What We Work On

Andrew builds each lesson around you — your instrument, your goals, your gaps. Here’s what most sessions draw from.

Technique & Tone

Proper posture and hand position, right-hand technique, consistent tone production, slap and fingerstyle fundamentals, and developing your own sound.

Theory & Application

Scales, modes, chord tones, reading bass clef, ear training, and how music theory actually applies to the fretboard — not just on paper.

Repertoire & Musicianship

Learning songs you love, developing your ear, playing in time with a groove, ensemble awareness, and building real confidence as a performing musician.

FAQ

For in-person lessons in Port Elizabeth, a bass can be arranged for your first session if needed. For online lessons, you’ll need your own instrument. Any entry-level bass guitar is fine — Andrew will advise on what to get if you’re starting from scratch.

Absolute beginners are very welcome. Andrew has taught students of all ages and starting points — from complete novices to musicians switching instruments. Your first lesson will be relaxed, exploratory, and focused on where you want to go.

Online sessions run via Zoom or Google Meet. You’ll need a stable internet connection and your bass plugged into an amp or audio interface. Andrew will send a session link after booking. The experience is very close to in-person — most students stick with online for the flexibility.

Jazz, funk, gospel, R&B, pop, rock, and contemporary styles. Andrew’s background spans orchestral, church, and studio performance, so lessons can be tailored to almost any genre. If you have a specific style or artist in mind, bring it — learning music you love speeds everything up.

Yes. Rescheduling is handled directly through Cal.com — there’s a link in your confirmation email. Cancellations made more than 24 hours before the session are fully refunded. Late cancellations or no-shows are non-refundable.
